Illustration Friday -Fortune

IF YOU ARE READING THIS, CONSIDER YOURSELF TAGGED!!

1) How long Do you spend on your weekly IF illustration?

2) Do you draw from your mind or do you have a visual reference?

3) Do you illustrate as a profession?

4) How did you find out about Illustration Friday?

5) Why have you started participating in Illustration Friday?

***I would love to read your answers. Perhaps you can post them in the comments section or just leave me a link to your blog and I'll come read it there***

So here are my answers:

1) On average I get about an hour per week to draw, scan and post my illo. I get the topic and think about it for a few days while running about and when I get a chance I sit down and draw. Usually in the middle of the week is when I've got time. After everyone is asleep...

2)I have had some fun ideas that I haven't really figured out how to illustrate because I do rely heavily on visual references.

3) I don't illustrate as a profession, but I think it would be fun.

4) I found IF mentioned on a few different blogs. Thought I should check it out after seeing it so much.

5) I started participating in IF to help me keep some of my personal resolutions. Life can be a roller coaster of crazy events that don't allow for much doodling time. I really have to schedule it into my life if I want to develop some skill...

Okay.
Now it's your turn!

I really like your drawing. It is dramatic and definitely evokes the "theme." I've answered your questions on my page.

What is the medium you used? Pencil, pen, etc.? It's wonderful! Her eyes are mesmerizing. She's so intent...it's great that the crystal ball is white. Your drawing is very intriguing.

I have posted my answers to your questions on my blog: http://non-art-teacher-designs.blogspot.com/

Thank you for comments and especially for sharing your thought process, etc. with me.
Even if this post becomes an old one, I would still love to know your answers to my tag questions.
SLW: I use a retractable pencil (the kind you click) that I bought for my college sketching about 5 years ago. It's an inexpensive, but reliable instrument in a house with an often disappearing pencil sharpener.
If I scan my drawings in and they seem too faint, I increase the "levels" in Photoshop so the sketch is more visible online.

Hey thanks for the information...you've inspired me to post some sketches. Even with the adjustments I didn't get the look quite right, but I guess I'll have to practice.

No one's commented on the hand!
Great work. Not only is the foreshortening bang on but somehow you've nailed a commanding but feminine hand.
No sausages on sale here!
Hands are onme of the hardest parts of the anatomy so you deserve gold stars for this.
I'll be back to have another look.
