I took liberties here.
My daughter was looking on as I worked out the dress and the skin and said, "Mommy! That's Alice!"
And then I got to the hair.
Dark, beautiful, long hair.
And then she smiled and said, "Mommy! That's me!"

Beautiful work--it is definitely getting there.
I had the same relationship with color for a very long time. I worked on ly in paynes grey and white or pencil for 10 years or so. Then finally it clicked and I realized that I COULD do color, that I finally got it. Most of my fear was destroying a perfectly good drawing by messing up while coloring it, plus it took me a long time to figure out what materials worked best for me (not markers but watercolors do work well, . Not acrylic but I can do oils.:))
I LOVE that you did her hair dark! In fact when I saw it it took my breath away, then I read what you had written and I honestly almost cried. Silly I know but as a fellow dark haired person I just remember as a little girl I always wanted to have blond princess hair. They did not have very many characters with dark hair. I love, love, love it. I have to write a book for you to illustrate for our dark haired beauties :)
I love it Crys. Not only do I have an obsession for Alice (thank you Louise Carroll) but even your ability to draw something like that is beyond me. My watercolors are usually traced then colored by me! I'm not the best at freehand...it always ends up abstract. You've got mucho talento! You best post the finished colored piece. ;)
Oh, I love the dark hair. I love how your girl saw herself in it too.
yes, my sentiments are just as MJ said. there are not many dark-haired princesses in fairy tales and stories, so this is so refreshing. BEAUTIFUL start to an awesome, original concept. i love your little N already, she is so sweet she makes me smile whenever you talk about her. :) i hope to meet her one day while she is still small.
seriously, please consider re-opening your Etsy. i would be one of your fans in a heartbeat!
